Iconic TV Host and Legend Passes Away at 99
According to reports from TMZ, Bob Barker peacefully passed away at his home in Los Angeles this morning. While there were various local speculations surrounding his demise, one of Barker’s representatives confirmed that he died of natural causes.
Bob began his career as a young man, hosting American game shows, and was discovered by the legendary producer Ralf Edwards while listening to his radio program. Edwards brought Barker to television, launching his successful career.
Barker gained recognition with his role in “Truth or Consequences” in 1956, which he starred in until 1975. He went on to host several other game shows and programs over the years, including “Dream Girl of ’67,” “Tattletales,” “Miss Universe,” and the most famous of all, “The Price is Right,” which he produced and hosted until 2007.
According to local reports, Drew Carey took over as the host of “The Price is Right,” and the show continues to be incredibly popular to this day.
Additionally, it is worth noting that Barker also made appearances on various TV shows and, of course, Hollywood films. He famously sparred with Adam Sandler in “Happy Gilmore,” played Neil Patrick Harris’ potential biological father in “How I Met Your Mother,” and appeared in many other programs like “Futurama,” “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “The Nanny,” “Martial Law,” and many more.
